Tomatoes and acne? What do I do? I've heard of tomatoes doing good for acne. I went out and purchased one tomato to test it out. I heard of different ways of applying it. Like tomato pulp or applying slices to your face. How do I go along in doing those? If there are different ways of applying a tomato to your face then feel free to say so as well.

Maria replied: "Tomatoes are NOT good for acne. They make your face worse,,they have alot of acid in them. Only green leafy veggies are good for complexion."

ttshah110 replied: "Hi ive added a link to a site which deals with acne its through clickbank so if it doesn't work you get a full refund through clickbank no questions asked. You might want to try it. "

Is it true that rubbing tomatoes on one's face will help cure acne? a friend of mine, informed me that on some show, the guests were talking about how if you applied fresh tomatoes to your skin that it will help fight acne. Is this claim legitimate... Has it worked for anyone?

Midnight replied: "I've heard of rubbing cucumbers all over your face to help as cucumber is a natural detox but I assume Tomatoes would not be a wise choice and tomatoes contain alot of acid and when your body has too much acidity you would normally break out with acne. If drinking tomatoe juice causes acne, I would not rub it on my face!"

kelly e replied: "This is the fourth time this has come in in about a week. No amount of fruits, veggies, sugar, spice, honey, vinegar, toothpaste will help acne. It's bacteria and a tough 'war' to wage. So try investing in a three step system and fighting back hard before bed and before your day starts. If nothing helps (Sun, vitamins a e and c and zinc) see a specialist aka a Dermatologist."

egg whites vs. tomatoes on acne? ive heard that both egg whites and tomatoes work for clearing up acne. i was wondering, which is better and works faster and more effectively? also, what else will help if these wont? i want home remedies that require few ingredients. im only 14 and dont have the money to buy more face wash while i already have three different kinds ive tried. thanks.

20 Year Nurse replied: "Both are just silly and will do nothing for your acne. Use a good antibacterial face wash. That would be the best thing. Also, if you must wear makeup, make sure and use mineral powder or a water based foundation."

Chrys replied: "neither one...tomatoes are full of acid and will eat your skin...egg whites do nothing but dry up on your skin and make a mess..."

aditi mishra replied: "both are good, though whites dries the acne more than the tomato. also tomato might hurt too if you have a sensitive skin. but apart from these 2, i find tea tree oil the best for acne and pimples. but be careful to use only the organic one."

BROOKELLE :3 replied: "you can put toothpaste on new ones that are really red and hurt. it works, just keep it on over night and it should be dried out by morning. and this might sound weird, but put nail polish remover on them before bed. it really worked for me, and im also 14. but if not just go to your dollar store and stock up on every single one! something should cure it! plus dollar store is cheap. lol"

B. Storm replied: "Try a shower."

shulinc668 replied: "okay well i think it might be different for every person but what i find most helpful is the tomato (just tried it last night) the way i used the tomato was to cut it in half and use both sides of it against my skin. i was rubbing it on for half an hour and then i left it for 5 more minutes. and within an hour i started to feel those pimples that have been there for 2 weeks start to go away. I woke up this morning and my skin is totally clear (except for those scars from the pimples I was popping before) but those will fade eventually and all will be left is good skin. I sincerely suggest you try it. I also found an article online that has a lot more remedies. If you would like I could try them and give you feedback. o and eggwhites don't really work on me. they give me more breakouts"

Do Tomatoes help remove acne? I have acne and can't seem to get rid of it. Some say tomatoes can help but to me that sounds crazy. If you know an easy way to get rid of acne or if tomatoes really help please share. :)

kelsey f replied: "no this is just another myth. Try using a perscription cream or jell like differin jel, it really works. I had acne all through highschool, I'm a senior now, and I've been using differin for 2 weeks, and my face is sooo clear, I've been getting so many compliments, trust me, it works"

PeachPie replied: "no, but tomato's will help prevent prostate cancer. If you eat alot of garlic your skin will improve. Just get those garlic pills. Garlic helps to cleanse your system out. You should also drink a gallon of green tea a day. Just boil a gallon of water, throw 8-10 green tea bags in a gallon container and refrigerate it at night. when you wake up it will be cool and you can drink on it all day. put it in water bottles for when you're not at home. Taking a multivitamin will also help out alot."

cst3e replied: "I had the same problem with acne and it took awhile to get rid of it. My doctor gave me a prescription cream, some pills (some kind of penicillin, i think) and a shampoo that smelled really bad. It seemed to work for me. Some tips: 1. Brush or comb your scalp before and after you shampoo your hair. I guess there is a lot of junk from your scalp that gets on your face. 2. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. 3. Use a neutral pH soap like pHisoderm or neutrogena on your face (once or twice a day). After doing this, I got rid of all my Oxy and Stridex medication."

tomorjerry replied: "Don't think so. An excellent remedy for pimples or acne-prone skin can be made by mixing 1 teaspoon ground cloves with 2 tablespoons fullers earth and ice water. When you wash your face, use sugar to scrub it, at least once a day, for two weeks to rid yourself of acne. Check out for more useful info."

nisha m replied: "Yes, It worked for me, apply slices of tomato on your skin; the pulp of the tomato has astringent properties, which can prevent acne. More home remedies available at"

Do tomatoes help treat acne? I'm a teen and I've had acne basically all my life. I've done research on homemade acne treatments and the word "tomatoes" caught my eye. So my question is, if I constantly rub tomatoes all over my face, will I become some kind of tomato man???

lksproodle51 replied: "No but the acidic content of the tomato dries up the oil in your skin. also lemon juice or vinegar."

mxv588t replied: "man, try to eat the tomatoes to, it will help your skin to be healthy."

Samflighter replied: "Sure check this 1) Cook oatmeal and apply on face for fifteen minutes and wash. 2) Make a warm bath with blanch of nettle and rosemary. 3) Apply equal amount of lemon juice and rose water with a cotton ball and wash it after haif an hour for 15 to 20 days. For dozens of more ways, prevention, types and reasons check"

MJ replied: "hasnt helped me"

Andrew D replied: "There is no evidence that tomatoes will help to treat acne. Tomatoes are acidic, which can create an environment unsuited to bacteria, but they are not a magic bullet for acne treatment and prevention. I would not rely on homemade treatments. While many acne treatments have natural sources (for example, salicylic acid comes from willow tree bark, and sulfur is a natural element, and azelaic acie is an extract of wheat -- and even Accutane is a derivative of Vitamin A), the concentrations of these found in foods and natural/organic products are commonly just not high enough to be therapeutic and effective. Don't reject acne treatments sold in stores just because they aren't "natural". Many of the drugs sold as "modern medicine" have their foundations in plants and botany -- they just require concentration and preparation by scientists to be effective."

What's better in public: tomato red acne or acne that looks ready to pop ? And the acne ready to pop are like the ones with the white stuff visible underneath the skin.

Fantasy replied: "eww, i'm glad i rarely get acne. i think shiny red acne looks more bearable then ready to pop!"

backwithwoody replied: "eeewww...neither...get some proactive"

g239b replied: "you are a really sick young man If there was ever a remake of Animal House, you would be perfect for Booger."

Lucy Lucy Lucy replied: "Tomato red."

Ashlynn M. replied: "EWWWWW!!! Very gross. I'd say the red would be better. At least then I would be able to look at the person without fearing a zit will pop out at me...EWWWWWWWWWW!! lol!"

nic O. replied: "tomato red acne cause I wish those peole who have the white ones would just pop them already! Do everyone a favor!"

Do you suppose to eat tomatoes or rub them on your skin for clear complexions and acne.? And how long does it take for your complexion to get clear and pretty and for you to have no more ACNE .............. Please Help ME !!!!!!!!!!! How long does it take for your complexion better ?????????

Blondieeeeā„¢ replied: "I have heard of that but i never really tried it....hmmm."

Emily K replied: "Use Apple Cider Vinegar. And wash your face with facial loofahs from The Body Shop. Find a good Acne Moisturizer."

uhohyoureugly replied: "I personally use Tea Tree Oil types because it is well-known for its drawing properties, meaning it draws the infection (the pimple) out. I also use it on my acne regularly because it reduces the redness within hours of putting it on, and it works amazingly on my pimples to keep them away. It's very safe and doesn't hurt at all.. It is 100% natural with no "fake" additives in it or anything like that... Best of all it is cheap and easy to find, such as at Walgreens (if you have one around), or at stores that sell health-foods and natural medicines. It is a very common home remedy and is very handy in medicine cabinets or First Aid Kits because it is a "cure-all" meaning it is not just for one thing in particular, it can help with many things. I use it, and I love it. ProActiv didn't work for me, and nothing else really has either.. but this stuff has pretty much done the trick. Goodluck :)"

lizbelle_28 replied: "eat or rub, it's good..but when rubbing, you should soak the tomato first in a water coz it'll make the tomato less in acid...after 3 minutes, cut the tomat0 then rub it in ur face, leave it like 2-3 mins then wash it. it's great, coz i did it already."

Home Remides/Acne/Tomatoes?!!? using sugar, and tomatoes i heard is healthy for your skin and reduces things like breast cancer heart problems etc.. can you break out from doing this??

Iheartdanscotty replied: "A tomato and sugar scrub is good for irritants, when it's a face mask/scrub anyway. It's good for acne too. It's not prove to reduce breast cancer or heart problems. Seriously, don't listen to peoples stupid myths."

Tomatoes and Acne....... Do tomatoes make acne go away? Please somebody Help me My skin is like ewwwwwww Proactiv made my skin hurt and burn. All yall are sweet. Thanks.

Becky B replied: "no, but oranges do."

Kel replied: "I've never heard of it making acne go away. My cousin is actually allergic to tomatoes and it makes her have breakouts."

Jessica H replied: "try nuetrogena at walmart proactive is a no no"

smarty replied: "proactive is no go area. i my aunt uses tomatoes/ cocumbers and it works good for her. it might work for you too but then again each person has his/her own skin type. you can try black opal ....goodluck."

muskaan replied: "yes definately....apply tomato juice ....during night times.....n wash face with cold water in the morning..u cam feel the difference"

Georgette replied: "Not sure about tomatoes, I'll give it a try. But, eating too much peanut butter can make your skin extra oily and cause breakouts. That's what I've heard at least. Proactive was awful on my skin, too. I couldn't continue using it. I tried the clinique 3 step stuff. It smelled good, but it was expensive and didn't do too much good. But, at least it wasn't as drying and painful as the proactive!!! Birth control pills have been the only thing to cure my acne. Good luck with the tomatoes! I hope that works!"

babygal x replied: "NO tomatoes do not try this routine it helped me a lot!!! morning- Wash face with only non perfume soap and water apply diluted tea tree oil with a cotton wool bud to the affected areas leave on to dry. dont wear make up night- wash face with water and non perfume soap apply sudo cream onto spots leave on over night once a week use a deep pour clensing face mask!! eat 5 pieces of fruit a day drink pleantly of water your skin will be clear in no time! keep it up even when spots have gone DONT USE CLEARISIL IT STRIPS SKIN OF NATURAL OIL THAT IT NEEDS and proactive can irritate the skin use only natural products xxxx"

Shug replied: "Tomatoes are good for acne skin treatments. They are rich in vitamin C which helps clear up acne and rich in vitamin A which promotes healthy skin. Mash a fresh, ripe tomato and apply it to your face. Leave on for 20 minutes to 1 hour and rinse off. For best results, do this everyday for 1 week. Cut a tomato in half and rub on your face. Leave on for a few minutes and rinse off. This works as a natural astringent to reduce oil and reduce pores. It will also help reduce acne scars."

Kenn replied: "No! tomatoes wont make your acne go away but it may help because it contains beta-carotene which is converted to vitamin-A. Vitamin-A is needed for healthy skin maintennance."
